Solenoid Valves?

My 87 turbo runs a heck of alot better when i unplug the 5 solenoid valves. i dont run it real hard ot long at all just like 1/4 mile up and down the road. What could i hurt or what would it be bad on to run the car with out the hooked up?? witch one do i have to have?

You need to keep the twin-scroll solenoid, I believe.

Is the EGR valve still intact? That could cause it to run like **** if its plugged up. But if it is I dont see how unhooking the EGR solenoid valve could help. Maybe it does though.

I looked at the Factory Service Manual and the colors go like this:

Pressure Regulator Solenoid Valve - Orange

Switching SV - Gray

Relief SV - Blue

Twin Scroll Turbo SV - Green

EGR SV - Yellow

Hope you figure it out.

You need to keep the Fuel Pressure Regulator solenoid (orange) and the Twin Scroll solenoid (green). If you have removed the ACV, you can ditch the Switching (grey) and Relief (blue) solenoids. If you've removed the EGR valve, you can ditch the EGR solenoid (yellow).

Alright thanks guys. What does the Pressure Regulator Solenoid Valve do? i think thats were most of my problem is coming from. it took out alot of my high RPM stumble it still seams to cut out around 6 grand but compare to what it was this is great. i know it does something with fuel pressure well i think it does but can someone explain more about what it actally does.

Normally the FPR is sent manifold pressure, so fuel pressure rises and falls with manifold pressure. But if the coolant temp is above 65ºC and the intake air temp is above 60ºC (i.e. the engine is warmed up), When the engine is started the FPR solenoid opens, providing the FPR with a constant atmospheric pressure for ~50sec. This means fuel pressure is higher than normal idle pressure. This is to stop aeration of the fuel and make the engine easier to start and idle when it’s hot.
There are a few simple tests in the FSM to check if it’s all working OK. But if the solenoid fails, it won’t open and the FPR will get manifold pressure all the time, so I doubt this is the cause of the problem. Check all the vac lines and the fuel pressure however, as a vac leak in the lines between the manifold and the FPR could cause low fuel pressure and stumbling at high rpm.

Alright i'll check its out, im planing on striping everything down here soon, get rid of ACV, EGR, main cat and those 3 valves. i will check out those vac lines. even if there wasent a leak in that line just say there was a intake leak somewhere could that screw with it to you think?
