Just go to your car, remove the stock airbox and the AFM. Measure the inlet of the AFM, goto your local advance auto, and get a K&N filter that has a size clamp that matches up with the AFM. Then you just clamp the filter to the AFM, no messy brackets .

I have a Weapon R filter, and this weekend, I am getting some electrical tubing, and replacing my intake arm so as to make less turbulence and better looks!

make your own, just get some pipe, some rubber connectors and a cheapass cone. I got a HIPERFILTER for like 16.95, and made the rest from home depot parts, worked awesome.

First off I should say hello to everyone. My father has decided he feels like having a second mid life crisis (or is this his third?...) and wants to get a Miata and supercharge it, so I get to take his 86 GXL off his hands. ^_^ I've been thinking of modding it, and am an engineer (in training) so the idea of making my own CAI is really neat. What kind of piping to you use from Home Depot though? Standard white PVC or something special. All CAIs I've ever seen are metal, so PVC seems a little strange. And can anyone point me to some dynos that show what a rotary gets from intake and exhaust typically? (Bragging rights, ya know?)

Besides, that's what heat shields and cold air ducting is for.

The nicest intake i have seen for an NA is the cold air one that Checkpoint Enigineering makes. Its all mandrel bent and the air filter sits in the mouth of the car with a splashguard. Cant really get any more high flow than that. Go to www.checkpointengineering.com Althought there isnt a picture of the intake on the site, just take down the phone number and give them a call. Pretty much all the other intakes are just a bracket and a cone filter for 130 bucks. Big deal.
