so what exactly happens during limp mode?

does it cut off fuel or spark and at what load & rpm? Also does it go into limp mode only when the mop goes bad? I got error code 12 and 17(narrow & wide range tps) which I think is non-limping, or is it?

Yeah, I think you will be in limp mode to some extent. Car might be down on power. It won't hurt anything driving like that, but you may suffer fuel economy and the like.

Is your TPS bad/misadjusted/do you know?

No, the car has a silky smooth idle @ 800 after adjusting the tps using the light method. But I read a thread from early this year in which RETed said that the wide-range could have "holes" in the circuit that can lead to high rpm hesistation. My car hits "fuel cut" at 6k rpm, in any gear except idle. Limp mode is more like around 4k rpm?

You need to do a full-range test on both TPS's - the resistance may be jumping around at high throttle openings, flagging an error code.

I wouldn't worry about what RPM it occurs at - if you're getting a TPS code, test the TPS and replace if necessary. Then go from there.

that or your error code is stored, and you can try to clear it after you've adjusted it, just a thought
