so now i'm down to 2 lug studs.... BAD TIMES

so i was taking my wheels off today... i already had one broken lug stud, and one that was a little stripped but still tightened down. if that isnt bad enough, when i took my wheel off today, the stripped lug broke off, then another one stripped upon removal of the lugnut.

so, i try to take the caliper off, the rotor off, and the hub out to punch out the studs. BAM the rear bolt that holds the caliper on BREAKS leaving the whole bolt with no head on it... so now i cant get the caliper off..

what the hell do i do? right now i just put the wheel back on the two studs and tightened it down til i can figure something out. i dont want to drive it anywhere unless i HAVE to, so taking it to a brakes shop really isnt a good option. it COULD make it there but it would be dangerous....

basically i have 2 lug studs and cant get the caliper off... what should i do?

get the olt out of the caliper and then go to a yard and get another 5lug hub and caliper bolt. replace your wheel bearings while youre doing all that too, should be fun.

Uhh... Dude, don't drive it, get it on the back of a tilt tray and take it to a brake shop that way.

Take the whole knuckle off, or whatever it's called. That way you can get to the broken caliper bolt. You'll have to do it anyway to get the studs out. The ABS rotor and sensor are in the way, so you have to take it all apart to get to the studs.

Replace it like posted above and be proud you are smart enough to not drive it like that.

bonzaitoyota, could you send me the whole rear passenger spindle with the hub/caliper/rotor as one piece? that would be way easier since i could just bolt it on, attach the brakeline and be set.

let me know how much you want.

Hah, same thing happened to me, cept I was dumb enough to drive it with 2 bolts left on my rear drivers side. Wheel never came off though thankfully. Got 5 new exteneded bolts for both sides since my rear rims are 265/35/zr18's with 5mm spacers
