So I had this idea?

Being a student of mechanical engineering, I from time to time come up with things to put on my cars or someone I knows car and see what happens. I was thinking, I've heard of the Corvette c6's idea of cooling brakes by directing some of the air that flows underneath the car to the back of the brakes. This got me thinking, couldn't the same be done to all cars. I though of this after a long drive when I went to touch my wheels and they were very hot, indicating to me that the brakes were gettign very hot. So I was thinking of bolting an air tunnel that ran underneath the front of my car with the exit to the tunnel being right where the opposite side of the front brakes would be. So I took some pictures. I was wondering what you guys thought of this idea, I know it prolly won't really do much and will sacrifice aerodynamics, but I just wanted to know what you guys thought.

Huh the images didn't seem to work. Oh well, they were just shots of the opposite side of the brakes from under the car, the place where the air tunnel would end.

HAHA...but i believe someone makes some larger ducts....

I'm sure you can fab ub some bigger ducts since the route is already there. I know on E30 M3's (aftermarket) they use some really cool ways to cool the brakes...but i have to links right now... maybe later?

WOW you should invent those!!! I can't believe someone other than Chevy never thought to make a brake duct. Hmmm...

Don't take that as a rude comment just slap your self on the forhead and say "Duh!!!"

I never said invent I said, make my own. I thought of this because some cars, my Trans Am for instance, does not have brake ducts, so I made some for those last year. I wasn't aware that the RX7 already had them, as I have only owned the car for a little over a month and do not yet know every little detail about the car. But I've always know they've existed, which can be supported by the example I used with the C6.

I support your thinking. However, we already have those so we're good to go.
