just to let you know. i read too many horror stories.. thought id post a success story.
so i definitly leaned it out quite a bit, its not detonating at all, even with 4k+ rpms trimmed off by 15%.
but im interested to learn what the fuel curve is on a nearly stock s4 na. so i can see what direction the curve goes in and the shape, cuz right now im just trimmed 15% across the board. and yes, it runs quite well.

well thats good and all, but what about your emissions test ?! you had failed and i kept up with that thread, and now you have this one. did leaning it out help you pass? do you have new numbers? have you tried to pass yet? i'm very curious since i may be doing the same thing very shortly.
btw: the judge granted me 30 days for my expired inspection ticket! now if i could only pass emissions!

ive got till nov 30th. my next move will be to play with the safc, and see how much i can lean out the low ranges, then for extra security im strapping on a catco like 2 days before the test. im not planning on keeping the car for very long, im very worried about an apparent coolant leak (lower housing type) but as long as the car gets me around town, its useful to me. im really tempted to blow 30$ and get a pretest right now though.
theoretically though, i should pass right now anyways.. sh*t now i want to go get pretested.

why do you love north texas?? you may want to be more specific. DFW is north texas and i'm not too in love with DFW.
our tests are $39.50, not $30, so youre lucky there. i need to get tested, too. i'm so glad i bought myself 30 days. keep me updated. i wanna see some numbers!
btw - you may know this, but your sheet (from when you failed) shows what RPM you were at; for reference, 15mph should be 1800-1900 and 25mph should be around 2200. those were my RPMs (exact numbers are in my car right now) on a 91 N/A. that way you dont have to fiddle with other RPMs (not yet anyways). and i HIGHLY doubt you would hurt anything leaning out those RPMs. and going lean, all you really have to watch is your NOx numbers going up.

DFW is north texas, thats why i was saying to be more specific. i dont know what part youre in. even UNT is in Denton which is (debateably) part of DFW. i was just sayin that you were vague, i wasnt jumpin down youre throat. but yes, i do realize there is miles and miles of wasted land in north texas. and theres a ton of useless land in west texas. not much between dfw and austin, either, unless you like waco. but, just being specific, DFW is north texas. and you never said why you loved "north texas." i assumed you were getting at the lack of emissions which we have in DFW. its spreading into the smaller counties, too.

yea, texas is big and a funny shape. i dont even know how big that damn panhandle is. only time i've been west was from DFW down 20 which turns into 10 and hits el paso. no where in texas i care to be besides dfw and austin (maybe south padre, etc). uhg, i need outta texas.
anyways, rs1101, let us know how its going. get it to a dyno and wideband that sucker. that or go test the emissions output and post those numbers.

while youre at it, also post a couple of pictures (if you could) of your wiring job. i cant think of any non-ghetto way to do it. splicing a wire into a wire?? seems weird. i'm starting to wonder how that works. seems strange.
