So I found the rev limiter... but the belts?

I was running my SE pretty hard today, and I spun somewhere near 8k, not thinking it would be fast, but thinking 8000 rpms is cool to see. No harm to the engine it seems, but I flipped a belt. Yes, flipped a belt. The belt in question happened to be my A/C belt ($4 from any auto parts store) so I cut it.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

If it wasn't damaged why not just reinstall it correctly?

I didn't have any tools on me, and I didn't want to risk it ripping and damaging anything.

Also... the accelerated warmup thing... it kicks to 3000 and STAYS there... doesn't rev down until I blip the throttle.

how long does it say at 3k? It might be you impatient and not wanting to wait for kickdown... I remember mine would cold idle to around 3.5k and drop after half a minute to 2k, and then slowly drop to 800 in about 5 minutes time.

Truespin88.

While starting the car have the car in gear (with clutch in) and start it. It "should" disable the startup kick, unless your switch is broken or non functional

my rx7 has a dual belt setup for the alternator... when my mechanic installed my motor, one of those 2 belts flipped, and he said he flipped it back over and it flipped again... so i've been driving with a flipped belt... so far its fine its not wearing funny... i'll try replacing it with a new one... hopefully it fixes it

Mine was wedged between the ecc. shaft pulley and the the clutch fan's pulley just above it... so it was burning through.
