Snapped a ground wire...Help!

Hey guys, I was changing the clutch slave cylinder in my 87 GXL, and when I was putting the new one on, theres this ground it looks like, that fits in between the cylinderbolt hole, and the tranny. Thing is, the ground snapped off now I just have the wire hanging...Anyone know what this is responsible for/what it does?
