Smoking question. Not oil control rings

Smoking question. Not oil control rings
I pulled the engine, and my exhaust ports are dry. My coolant seals are fine, since I wasn't looking any from driving.
If it was oil control rings, wouldn't I see oil in the exhaust ports? The smoke was whiteish. It would smoke randomly at idle, but now started to smoke every time I start the car.
When I rev the engine, the smoke goes away. The engine is a 6 port turbo. The car made boost when it was driving. I'm waiting on breaking apart the engine. Would I be able to see a cracked seal or not until I break the engine down?
There's no oil in the charge pipe or intercooler, but there is some play in the turbo. What would cause the car to smoke randomly? I have the engine pulled and I cannot see anything that would show which housing was the culprit.
Any help would be great. Thanks.
Bud.
