smoking and bad idle
ok guys,
My car is not running right anymore. When I crank it up it goes all the way up to 4k rpms and then stays there for way to long. Then it smokes from the exhaust and up near where the intake/ exhaust manifold is. I took out my spark plugs and they are seriously fouled. It must be running really rich but I do not know what to do about it. It will not idle until it is warm and then it fluxuates between 1500 and 2K like a vacuum leak. I ported my intake manifold about a month ago. I checked for intake leaks. I did not find one. It has not idled well since then. Once I get it on the road it runs fine.

well, if it started AFTER you "ported" the intake manifold, I would guess that that could be the cause of the problem or something you accidentally did while doing that...
do you have a backup intake manifold you could swap in and try ?

no, but i do not see how I could have messed up my manifold. Oh yea, If I unplug my bac valve it will still stay at 4K. How is that possible? Your BAC is what revs your warm up idle speed. Before when I unplugged it the engine will just go straight to idle.

Bro, porting is engine science, not backyard grinding. If you did it yourself and had no more than a basic idea what it was you were doing, then get your RX7 to a real mechanic to undo the damage you created before you ruin the engine! It really sounds like you "zigged" when you should have "zagged"! Bill
