Smoking around the intercooler and when the heater is on! Help!
I just got a full 60k mile service done on my 90 TII with 54 original miles. It's been my daily driver for about a year with no problems. I do not abuse it. The other day i was driving up with my heat on medium high. I stopped to get gas and as soon as i got out i smelt smoke. I turned off my engine and popped the hood and saw smoke coming around the intercooler. It seems smelt like something was burning and was white. When I have my car on idle it goes through the vents into the car. The temp gauge is slightly above normal too and has never been that hot. The only way i can think that this could happen was when i went to start my car the other day it didnt turn over but gave me a loud schreeching sound. Any insight? Thanks!

Remove the intercooler and examine the area for any obvious leaks.
In that area you have a coolant hose near the oil filter that is very prone to leaking. It connects to the heater core.
In addition, the o-rings under the oil filter pedestal will often leak, spilling oil in that general area.
