smokes, burning oil, rough idle...

Alright, heres the deal, I did some searches, cant find exacly my sistuation, so please help if you know whats up. My 1990 GXL is idling a little rough, I bought it used with 125 miles. and 2000 on a rebuild. When its warmed up, It idles around 7/8k up and down, anyway my first question is when it idles, it has a little putter every couple of seconds, not exact everytime, I hear from some boinger owners it could be a vacuum line or somthing. Anyone know what it could be?

second question is my oil. I burned 2 quorters in about 100 miles. I bought some mobil clean start, And I put in the first bottle, and the second bottle about 80k miles later (it was below the E line) Anyways, I know I'm burning this oil. because my car smokes. Maybe becausue of the cold weather? I let it warm up, and when i do its smokes like crazy. Its a bluish white I suppose. and its not incredibly noticible, but u can see it for a while. Anyone know what this is? Any help is apriciated. Thanks in advance

sounds like Oil rings.....
bluish smoke means that you are burning oil, but man, 2 quarts in 100 miles? if ur omp is working properly, it should burn about quart per 1000 miles.
Good luck.

Your car idles at 7 or 8K??? Or did you mean 7 or 8 HUNDRED?

And when you say it smokes...im assuming it smokes even after the car has warmed up. Im thinking your oil seals are on the way out.

7 or 8 hunder is about right for a 5-speed...

the oil seals they are referring to are on the rotors themselves.... which means an engine teardown and rebuild...

If your new to 7's.... i wouldn't tackle this one yourself....
