Question Smoke on start up

When i start my car it starts up quick....then goes to about 3000 rpm's...and warms up...but sometimes i give it a little rev.....everything is cool....but if i keep reving in cold it will smoke...i cant tell the color...i guess its white....but once warm it goes away...and if its already warm there is no smoke unless i really rev hard on the motor standing still....is this smoke something bad...i have no cats (straight pipe)...car has almost 130,000 miles on it....let me know.

Peace
Buddy

Sounds like a water seal may be going south if the smoke is white. Have you pressure tested your cooling system? I know of a few people that have used a temp fix for bad water seals to hold off the rebuild until they have time/money to do it. They use some of the leak-stop copper stuff and have had good luck. one of the people got the idea initially from Paul Yaw if I'm not mistaken. If the smoke is blue, then that would indicate an oil seal.

Also, as far as the AWS (accelerated Warm-Up System...otherwise noted as the Accelerated WEAR-OUT system) just blip the throttle when it does that to drop the rev's to a lower idle. You don't want to rev your engine at 3K like the ECU makes it do when cold, especially when there is no oil running through it yet.

Before I rebuilt my engine, it smoked when it was cold... If I barely pushed it while driving, it would smoke.. BAD until up to temp... and if I was up to temp, and racing, between shifting , big puffs of smoke would pop out the exhaust.. I had about 130k on the engine too with no cats...

My problem was my oil control rings in my rotors... They were just shot... and it burned oil when it was cold, or I was shifting at high rpms... This COULD be your problem.. Hopefully it's this instead of bad WATER SEALS =( I've had an experience with that before haha

both cases, Rebuilding fixed it.. =)
