Smoke, Rings or water seal?
Ok, my car smokes, but only when cold. sometimes it only smokes a wisp or too, sometimes it smokes clouds until the car is fully warmed up. I cant tell if its oil smoke or not, and it just plain smells bad, kinda like exhaust. Is it the oil control rings or the water seal going?

I would like to know how pouring oil into his gas will make his smoke smell better, especially if it is his o-rings.
I honestly dont know, there seems to have been quite a few people lately that have their cars smoking until they warm up. What type color of smoke, and what does it smell like? Someone around here though it might be the cold start assist(useless), I would either take it off and see if that really is the problem or not worry to much about it. If it starts to get noticeably worse then it is most likely the coolent o-rings.

If its not the coolent seals dont do it. Also, I belive that if you do the block weld it will basically make your core unuseable if you want to rebuild it at later time.

Yeahh.... you can always get rid of the block weld... but then you'll still have a busted rusted end plate that you can't reuse anyway? (the main reason why a coolant seal will blow)
I don't think the block weld will make you end up with an unuseable core, its just that the core was unusable before the block weld anyway
I tore appart an engine that had block weld through it, none of the coolant passages were all clogged up or anything bad like that, only just at the very edges where it was seeping into the housing, that was blocked up.
I guess your millage may vary depending on what brand, how you do it.. etc.. etc...
