Smog test - would doing it at some random shop damage my car?
Should I bring my rotary baby to a dealer for a smog test, or should I just bring it to a local shop (e.g. Midas, Pep Boys, etc.)?
Does anyone know how a smog test work?
Would those "guarantee pass" places f**k with your car to make sure that it passes?
Thanks mates, appreciate your help.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
The places that specialize in Smog testing seem the best to me, rather than the add on to the gas station versions.
If you have any engine mods or the car isn't quite running right, you might ask for test only first, so that you don't get labled gross polluter if it fails. Then just pay again for the certificate if it passes
