Small Question

I was playing around with launching(never done it before) and i took it up to 3k and just let the clutch out fast. Well my car jumped forward and tried to stallso i puched the clutch back in and let out of the gas. I Did the same thing to a RX i was looking at buying and it took off like a rocket spinning the tires and making preat power. Why will my car not do this? Is it clutch , compression help me out here. Just want to know why my car will not launch. Both cars are stock but mine is an s5 and the one that launched right is a s4. Thanks in advance guys.

hmmm....

Take a corvette or mustang at around 1500 RPM and floor it, then take out an RX-7 and same thing 1500 RPM and floor it....

The RX-7 has absolutely 0 tourque or power until 3000RPM. Launching an RX-7 is only good around 5000-5500 RPM so that it only drops to 3000 RPM and gives you something to work with.

But our cars aren't designed for the 1/4 mile. Or for launches at 5500 RPM.

It's all about the rolling start baby!! That's the only way I kept up with that Trans Am the other day.

I have no clue about why the S4 launched so well. I would imagine the S5 would be easier to launch.

rolling start

Rolling start is the only way to go

Less car damage that way

No differentials falling off or clutches exploding

Another factor, what modles were each? The S4 probally had a LSD, and the S5 more than likely did not.

Neither car was modified. All stock, mine prolly is in need of a tune up. Both cars were reved to 3k then dumped the clutch. My car is a 90 gxl and the other is a 87se. I only tried the launch one time on my car (dont want to hurt my baby)
