Small neutral?

i was looking at an 87 gxl and is the gears/neutral supposed to be so small. i mean i didn't know if the car was in neutral the cuz the area of it was so small, and the gears seems really close together. i dunno it's my first time messing wiht one with a stick shift, cuz mine is an automatic. so what do you think?

It's probably normal. you should try and shift a 3rd gen I couldn't even tell if it was in 1st or 3rd. they are 1/2 as far apart as a 2nd gen.

I wanna try shifting a 3rd gen. I have thought about actually getting one. I can never decide what I want. A sports car or an SUV. All my friends have sports cars & we have to ryde in a few cars to go anywhere which sucks. I have my NA, but it isn't too fast. 2 of my friends got 300zx TTs & another has a VR4 so it would be pretty tight if I got a 3rd gen though.
