slow sunroof

I got my rx-7 about a week ago for $1200
(one of) the problems is that when the sunroof closes it goes really amazingly slow...but its fine when it opens. Could this just be something that I need to grease? Thanks

Yup, could be the motor is tired as well... But lube up the tracks! (do not use wd40) it seems to attract more dust and **** then white litium grease

I would pick some carb cleaner up. Spray an entire bottle of that stuff in there and then wait for it to dry. Then use some white lithuim grease. DONT GET THE LITHIUM SPRAY. It reek like hell. The grease works awesome.

what form does the grease come in...is it just a tube or what?

Take a few minutes to clean all the old 'hardened' lube off the track. Use some solvent on a rag, and use a small screwdriver to drag it through all the sections of track. If you really want to do it right, take the sunroof off so you can get to the rear track sections (its easy).

You only need very little grease, so get the smallest tube of all purpose grease. Don't use the grease on the entire track, just the inner section where the carrier moves back and forth. Also put a little in the 'cams' that push the roof up before it retracks.
