slow initial take off in auto '88 T

I find that the initial take off is very very slow, is this just because it is auto?
so would the conversion to manual fix this or is there some sorta setting that can be changed easily in the transmission........ I dont really wanna spend any money on the transmission as I eventually want to convert to manual anyway.
I dont know a great deal about cars but given instructions I most likey can do it myself

Thanks

Switch to a manual, or get some more low-end torque (but that's not exactly what rotaries are good at)

You can try powerbraking it (hold the brake with your left foot, then keep applying more and more gas until right before your tires start spinning), but other than that you got me.

the std stall point in them is just way too low, ive got a 3500rpm stall converer in my S4 and it takes off just like a normal working car rather than nothing unill it was on boost with the std converter.

if you want to convert to manual just live with it untill you can afford the conversion, if you cant wait get a stall convertor built and throw it in for the mean time.

This probably won't help much.
I test drove 2 automatic 2nd gens before I bought mine, it would seem that takeoff gear is designed just to get you moving. Both of these were ridiculously slow on the takeoff even with your foot planted.
I think you are just going to have to wait until you convert to manual to get that neck snapping launch
cya round.
