slow car no power need help

ok to start off its a 90 gxl 5-speed and 90k on the motor i think. my problem is that the motor is hard to start, i have to keep it accelerated on cold start but after a few minutes it idles by itself, the motor lacks alot of power its very slow at accelerating, it has no exhaust cause the previous owner cut it off , and its shots fire ***** when decelerating and ideas would be appreciated

Can you tell us anything else about your car? What the previous owner might have done to the engine? And are you able to get pictures of your throttle body(specifically back.)

Past owner may have gotten rid of the butterfly valves in the throttle body, the ones that are controlled by coolant and thermo-wax thingy(I know, awesome description :P) which when first started allows more air to flow to the engine. Just an idea to start with.

Sounds like you bought a car that's been beat to crap and abused, and you don't know enough to fix it.

Could be anything....you have no idea what the previous owner did, and it sounds like he didn't know what he was doing either. It's going to need serious help, not really something that can be diagnosed over the internet...

While you're at it, ensure the battery is properly grounded to the car
