Slipping Clutch?

The other day a car pulled up next to me and wanted some. We were rolling (not that fast) and I decide to do it in third for the hell of it instead of second. When the RPMs got above 5000 you could smell this burning (like rubber but a little diff and itll rev up really fast). So I shift to 4th and same thing. Now I had a clutch problem not engaging all the way so I put a washer in between the PP and Flywheel bolts. Worked out great. Im guessing that they could be loose now? Ive raced my bros EG Type R hatch before and it never did this.

why would you ever put washer in between the pressure plate and the flywheel?? that is just a bandaid for something terribly wrong. perhaps a misadjusted clutch pedal....... sounds like your clutch disc is worn. replace the disc, pressur eplate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, surface the flywheel, and DO NOT use any washers in between the pressure plate and the flywheel!!!!!!! check your clutch pedal adjustment and adjust as necessary.

A new clutch, PP, resurfaced flywheel, throw out bearing and pilot bearing was installed and torqued. Some reason it just didnt release the clutch when I stepped on the pedal. I did adjust the push rod from the clutch pedal and tried diff lengths too. It just wouldnt release. Thats why I put them in and then it started too release.

Hmm my clutch is slipping too only mine is a Mazdaspeed Stage 3, 3 puck ceramic clutch and pressure plate. I however did not put washers in between the plate and the flywheel. When I first put it in I did have a slight problem with it fully dis engaging but that turned out to be a bad slave cylinder seal. Now withing these past few days its just plain slipping when ever I boost is accelerate hard. The slave cylinder rod is all the way in and as far as I know the clutch fork is all the way back too and I have even re adjusted the clutch rod underneath the dash to factory spec. I have put maybe 4 thousand miles on it so how could this be happening?.

Sorry if you think I'm high jacking your thread its just that I share your pain

I have the same problem. The second I hit 5k when boosting hard it just jumps to 7 like I don't have traction, and then you smell clutch.

I just think mine is just due to the n/a clutch and pressure plate (even if they only have 5000 miles on them).

Yeah. Since the mazdaspeed stage 3 racing clutch I have in my RX7T is a 6 puck (triangle) it more less skips and slips and doesn't just let go like yours. I don't even haver to be high in the RPM's for it to do it at all either. I can be at 3K and then give it some boost and bam it holds for a second then skip skip slip. This doesn't make too much sense either cause the clutch hardly has 5 thousand miles on it and its ceramic so it shouldn't wear out for a long time. I took the inspection covers off the trans and looked in at it and checked all the bolts and they were still torqued fine and I could see the disk but I'm used to seeing a normal thick clutch not like this one so I don't know what worn out would look like until I actually took it out.

I completely removed the slave cylinder and bump started the car and granny shifted to 5 th and then got on it and it still slipped so i know its not the hydrolic part of the system and its actually internal.

Tomorrow I'm going to shoot some break cleaner up in the clutch and hopefully clean it and make it stick again. its a long shot and the clutch looked like it was as clean as the day I put it in so I guess we'll see.

What makes this even more so fustrating is I paid big bucks to this one guy for this "awesome rare and brand new Mazdaspeed stage 3 racing clutch that will never slip" and sure enough it is slipping and he "can't help me and I have to figure it all out my self" Kinda pissed about that. I could have bought a exedy clutch and lightweight flywheel for the same as I paid for this mazdaspeed clutch and pressure plate and no lightweight flywheel. I had to buy that extra. what do ya guys think?
