slightly higher than normal temps?

Hey all, I've got a 1987 (S4). Anyway, I'm probibly worried for nothing, but better safe than sorry lol. well my temp gauge stays at about 1/4 when driving soft (shifting at 3K). But when i get on it & go thru the gears fast, it rises to just under 1/2. same thing with when I turn the car off to get gas, it'll be at 1/4 and when i turn it back on it'll be at 1/2. I'm almost certain the cause of that temp rise is just coolant sitting in the water jacket absorbing the engine heat, since everything is off and the water pump isn't turning. Anyway thats about it. I'm planning on replacing the hoses and t-stat in a week or so. Another quick question.. which hoses should i replace along with the upper & lower radiator hoses? Alright well thanks for your patience with me, kinda a noob still. Thanks for the help

Totally normal dude. Usually my car (S5 vert) runs just a hair under the half way mark when im running her hard. as for your hose question, replace the resivour hose aswell, just to be safe.
