skittle update, some good news, some bad news

Well i have this little oil leak, well today when i was driving it to my dads it turned into a big leak, so i would say the bad news is that my engine bay is covered in oil.. but the good news is the parts are ordered.. but the really good news is i got 45 miles on it, i got the stereo installed, i did the kevin lander electric fan relay write up. and i did a compression test today and results follow as

Front rotor- 87-87-87
Rear rotor 90-90-90

cold and hot start are really good...

peacee

What parts did you order?

Also, use a torque wrench on the front hub bolt...there is a spec for it and I believe it is 95 ft lbs. You can rent it from Autozone if you don't have one.

Was that a hot compression test or cold?

Good to see the numbers are climbing!

I didn't use a torque wrench on my front bolt, loctite + silicone + air impact = perfectly tight bolt

Dosen't torquing more than stock affect the final endplay?

Doesn't matter unless you keep it pounding down over and over and over. I believe Kevin Landers uses impact for the front pulley bolt. I know I've used every time myself, no problems.

I recommend either a medium impact on the front bolt for ~1-2 full seconds, or the locking plate that is found on some of the 89+ engines (more so remans than anything). I wouldn't trust a front pulley bolt otherwise. One of the first engines I ever built had the bolt come out shortly after startup because I used the FSM torque setting. Now I use the impact gun torque setting instead, and havent had a failure or leak since.

Use of the impact won't harm your endplay setting.

The endplay setting would be the main thing i was worried about affecting...

I torqued mine to 95 FT LB's, but i realized i didn't locktite it, so i have to pull it apart again..

Should i take the torque up higher? Or just use the impact? For some reason, i don't feel comfortable not knowing what the torque reading is it.. (probably because im so used to verifying torque readings, i work on helicopters)..

The copper washer was something I forgot on my
first rebuild. I sliconed it to the front bolt, loctite
on the threads and hit it with a impact. End of
problem.
