i was wondering if anybody has encouterd this noise before. when i give a little bit of boost it makes a siren type of noise. its pretty loud. but if i floor it or go past 4k rpm's then it doest sound off. anybody know what this might be?

 

I've read that if you can hear it spooling up and there's no vac leaks/etc that it usually indicates bearings or something are going in the turbo, though I only read that and am not sure. The only time I heard that noise was when my IC line blew off.

 

that's the sound when the bearings are going and the wheel is rubbing on the side of the housing. take your TID off and check for turbo shaft play.

I'm not sure why it goes away though. I think normaly stays going.

 

hmm. the shaft does have a little tiny bit of play but i dont think enough to rub. i have no idea what it is

 

was there strobe lights at all in your rear view?
