Lock parts

When I go to lock my passenger door, it locks but then it won't unlock, with the key or with the button on the inside. The door opens and closes as long as it is not locked. I was told I need a door lock actuator. A friend of mine has one for the driver's side door and I was wondering if I could use that for the other side? Also, does that sound like the right part that I would need?

Thanx in advance.

There's a bunch of rods that run everything in there and my guess is that the one that runs the lock has a broken clip or come unfastened somehow.

Once you get in there the problem will be obvious.

Cheers

Problem is obvious? When is the last time that you looked inside the door. None of the clips are missing or broken. Anyway, would the actuator from the driver's side work in the passenger side door?
