Single Piston brake upgrades, worth it?
Single Piston brake upgrades, worth it?
Ok, did a search and it only turned up ONE thread.
So, I was planning on doing a 5-lug upgrade, but if I can get by with the 4-lug it would be great. My plan was to change the lines to Stainless, change the rotors to brembo slotted or brembo blanks, and change the pads to some Hawk HPS. (or whatever they're called) Would this be enough stopping power or is a 4-piston upgrade really necessary?
BTW: car is an '88 SE.

forget that, go 4-piston if u are doing 5 lug, 4-piston calipers have a ****-ton of stopping power, even with stock rotors and stock pads, they have saved me numerous times from moron drivers and i had no fade in the mountains
do all the upgrades...stainless lines, etc. even get some FORD MOTORCRAFT DOT3 brake fluid, it has a high dry boiling point and is cheap. flush out your entire system with that ****.
at bottom:
High performance cars need high performing fluid. Here’s a favorite value, Ford Motorcraft brake fluid. Who would expect Ford to make some of the best performing brake fluid available. The dry boiling point of this brake fluid is 550F and compare with the best. In fact, it’s within a couple degrees of AP 550 fluid, and at a mere 1/10th the price. Sold in bundles of three to flush an entire system. Pick some up and enjoy the value.
