simple question...rear hatch

Pretty simple question but I dont know the simple answer.

My rear hatch has no wiper but does have rust, my parts cars hatch has a rear wiper but doesnt have rust. So, I have no problem with having a back wiper, would actually be pretty convenient when needed. I already have the working wiper switch from the parts car in my car which includes controls for the rear wiper.

Is my car wired for a rear wiper even though it was spec'd without? My car is an 87 and the parts car is an 88GXL.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

AFAIK, all RX's have the wiring for all options, whether they actually came installed or not.
So yes, the wiring should be there.

The wires will be there, you will need the switch, the hatch and at least the left side hatch strut for it to work. You will probably also need to change the relay in the switch since they are prone to burning out. See archives for the how to.

well, I have the complete parts car so wiring, hatch, switches, etc will all be there. The wiper switch is already in my car and everything works as far as thats concerned so hopefully the switch will work for the rear wiper too. But thats great info, thanks alot!

yea just search though the harness in the back. there should be a tied up plug. since harness were mass produced and they would basically zip tie what wasn't being used to the harness.
