simple question, need quick reply

my friend has an 88 automatic non turbo FC. he bought it without the guage cluster and we're trying to get it running today. he found a junk yard close by that has a guage cluster, but its for a manual transmission, non turbo. what i need to know is will the car start without the guage cluster, and will a manual trans cluster work on an automatic car, thanks

also will the guage cluster not being in the car have any effect what soever on the key ignition. cause when you put the key in the ignition the key makes one click and then moves freely between the on and start positions. thanks for the help

that i know of it should cause any problems between both clusters and you shouldnt have to worry about starting the car without the cluster there i think it should start anyways i might be wrong but someone else will fix my mess up but thats what i think

Simple question? That would be like "what color is a red stop sign?", lol...

I *THINK* you can use it, and I *THINK* you could start the car without it...

I *THINK* your description of the ignition switch is normal, also...

well i figured out the ignition problem, the piece that screws into the other side of the ignition wasnt so i put that back in. as far as the guage cluster i still dont know. im still not getting anything by turning the key inside the car so i got under the car, found the wire going to the starter solenoid and gave it straight power from the battary. im getting it to crank now but no start. put gas in it, nothing there and the spark plugs dont look that bad, i also put some oil in the spark plugs holes. any other suggestions. just trying to get this thing running. and have no idea how many miles are on it cause it came without the guage cluster. and help is very appricated, thanks
