siezed engine advice

i found an engine with 90xxx miles on it still in a car that suposedly ran before the car was totalled it has been sitting for about 4 years and of course its locked up .. the owner pulled the plugs about a year ago and left them out for some reason ..so my question is .... is it likely that the atf or mmo trick will work or is it probable that the plug holes being open for this whole time would have ruined the insides ... the car has been garaged since its been sitting and its an n/a

please dont tell me to search because ive been searching and i have not found the same situation.. any help will be greatly apreciated .. or if anyone has a used engine locally fs that would also be helpfull

Damn, with the plug holes being open it's gonna be rusted to hell inside. Pull off the exhaust mani and look through the port.

If you've got nothing to lose inject some MMO into each leading plug hole, and attempt to spin the engine clockwise (viewed from the front) with a 19mm socket and a breaker bar (or big ratchet)...If she spins OK, and sounds of compression can be heard through the plug holes, go ahead and throw some new plugs in her & see what she does...

Needless to say, every fluid will need to be changed before the first drive, or soon thereafter...

I am betting that the rust is far along. Even if you get it running, be sure that it wont last long. if the rust is severe the side seals will bind in the grooves. Many times the apex seals will als bind in. In both instantces the springs basically go to hell. With the plugs out you can plan on side housings as well during the rebuild. 4 years is a real long time.

Pointless? For the cost of an engine rebuild kit (less than $1000) you could have her up & running again, best case scenario; worst case (rusted to hell) maybe $3500 tops...

know what your getting into. I bought a vert chassis a while back for what I thought was a steal. the creep that owned it told me he was going to do a v8 drop in.and ran out of money. I knew he hacked up the wiring harneses and a few other things- turns out this shoemaker screwed up half the car. if I did not have a parts car sitting around I would have lost my shirt. What might be similar to your situation is the fact the car sat for about 2 years. I have ended up replacing the master and clutch master, all four calipers, rotors . .

anyway as they sit **** breaks

I really dont think a motor that has been sitting is worth the effort to get running unless you crack it open and clean it up
