Whats the difference between the side molding on 86/8 and 89/92?

Biggest difference is that the 89-91 was color coded to match the body color.

Also
The groove on the moulding is in the middle on the 86-88 vs the 89+ where is was in the lower quarter of the moulding.

Thanks. I mainly wanted to know because the nose peice I want says it's made for 89+ molding. But it sounds like this won't be noticable on my 88.

if you replace the front fender moulding in front of the wheel well that should help to blend it a little, but I think in the long run you will want to replace all the moulding with the later version.

I agree with Icemark

It will look patched together unless you replace the side moldings as well with the front bumper cover.

However, what you could do is cover the front with a bra to shield the molding difference in the mean time.
