Side effects of wiring the OMP open?

I noticed this on an engine that split in half. Too much oil pressure? Or a bandaid to premix?

well it would probably lead to increased deposits and increased emissions, while there would be some reduction in octane value and of course increased oil usage.

Smoke, oil use, carbon buildup, fouled plugs, possible power loss due to the latter 2 factors.

you can wire it open on its lowest setting for when the ECU cuts fuel during decel, and then run premix for all other situations... that's what tofuball did.

The thing is, premix leaves a layer behind, and an engine in fuel cut is seeing basically no load at all on the apex seals (no combustion pressure forcing them out, just spring & centripetal forces).

Sure it does, I just dont want to rely on that layer when I'm engine brakeing, especially going down a hill for sevral minutes (as can happen when I'm driving across the country)

I don't run into any of those problems (fouling, reduced octane, etc etc) because I have the OMP only running to the oil metering 'injectors' on the housings, and I have the pump set to only pump the minumum amount (you can barely even notice any used after driving 3000 miles)

Once, I turned it all the way up and you could SEE the oil moving in the lines :P
