The short shifter doesn't look much shorter on the top. The C's short shifter acctually shortens the distance you have to move the stick to get it into gear, it is pretty much stock hieght give or take a little.

You don't shorten shifts by making the top of the lever shorter, you can acctually make it HARDER to get into gear doing that, because you have less mechanical advantage in the shorter lever. You shorten shifts by changing the fulcrum (where the lever pivots), and that won't changes how tall/short the shifter is, most are a hair shorter for looks sake.

the mazdatrix shifter does shorten shifts. just cause it says 'short shifter', doesnt mean its actually shorter, just created differently to accomodate shorter shifting throws.

My C's in my 89 T2 looks TALLER than my buddies stock set-up in his 89T2. So if you are looking at height dont get the C's

If you shorten your shifter it does nothing or no it will change a little but like black fc said it may make it harder the way to shorten your shifts is to make your throw longer so mainly the little area above the ball is where it is longer to shorten the shift

I bet I have the shortest shifter.... Cut off the bushing and added a ****. Had to cut the boot under support to actually use the shifter without hitting my knuckles on it. I don't regret it at all either. I'm not a wuss so its not a problem shifting fast. Yeah its a little more wrist power to move it, but my throw is only 1.75" bumpstop to bumpstop. Flick your wrist and you're in the next gear.

I had the cut shifter in my white TII, It definatly looked better, and wasn't hard to drive. However there is a BIG diff in the two when you drive a car with a real short shifter.
