Question Should I be worried? (dried fluid on break rotor)

Alright, so for the first time today I noticed something on my break rotors. It is only on the driver side front rotor and I have no idea what it is. It is a yellow (mustard-like) color. It is completely dry and will kind of rub off by hand. Can't tell completely what it is. To be honest, I just put in Redline SuperLight Shockproof differential fluid on Friday and this looks exactly like it. However, I have no idea how it could have gotten on just the front rotor, since there were not puddles of it when I was done and the differential is in the back. Anyways, here are some pics, let me know what you think it is (if anything from my car), of if you think I just drove over something. Should I be worried? Should I check anything? Thanks for your help.

Thanks again.

you sure it's not just a little surface rust from water that was splashed up there?

Doesn't really look like rust, but I dunno. I thought rust was more of a brownish color, in real life this is a nice yellow (mustard) type color.

Rotors develop surface rust quicker than any surface of metal known to man and most forms of primates. It's probably that. It's nothing to worry about though, especially if it comes right off.

Yah, so I went to go get gas, got back and looked at the rotor and it was all completely gone. So breaking removed it all no problem. I wasn't that worried, but it just seemed odd to me since it really didnt look like any rust I had ever seen. But oh well, thanks for replying.

Damn! That's crazy... Now that's what I thought rust looked like, only reason I was concerned was because mine was more yellowy, but oh well I'll just consider it rust

yup, iron starts to flast rust as soon as it hits oxygen. Thats why some rotors come wrapped in plastic, or a decent amount of flast rust. Nothign out of the normal really. Though they usually have some sort of assembly luve on them that keeps them from instantly flas rusting when leaving the factory
