Should i trade my 88 t2 for this offer?

I am offered a 92 bmw 318i 5 speed in excellent condition 120k, and 1000 for my turbo fc, i say my fc is worth about 5500, is this an even trade?

If you want a more comfortable daily driver - go for it.
If you want to go faster - no.

You're going to cry when you start to replace parts on the BMW...

yeah, like reted said... it all really depends on what your looking for in a car! speed, handling and sheer excitement to drive..go for the turbo..... comfort, ease of driving, luxury, go for the beemer!

parts price wise, they are both pretty expensive to maintain.... but a beemer expect to take it to the dealer if you have any problems, rx7's are pretty easy to diagnose and fix in a garage...

+1 for the turbo

I think you should keep the FC, I personally hate BMW.

Anyway, why are you asking us? being the RX-7 club I think most here will say keep the FC.

I pretty much agree with everything said. Both cars have expensive parts, but you're going to get stuff cheaper at junkyards for the 7 and you can usually fix it at home. I wouldn't get the bimmer unless you are tired of the 7 and want a nice comfortable daily driver. The 1.8 bimmers weren't very fast, except the ti which is actually a fun little hatchback.

really it depends on your needs, the BMW will be a comfortable, smooth, and quiet ride.

its not going ot crack a huge grin on your face, but you probably won't find yourself complaining about how hard to get in and out it is

theres also a safety consideration (but seeing as you own a seven, you probably dont care about that)

its pure personal preference, and i would really have to see both cars and do a little research before i could tell you if thats a good deal

LOL As stated, you get one for luxury (and status), not performance.

ive owned a couple of bimmers and the only one that i miss and wish that i never sold was e30 m3, if you can find someone to trade for one of those, go for it. people always bitch about rotary engines and how expensive rebuilds are, try rebuilding an s14 on a budget, it was one of the best cars i have ever driven though. +1 for the turbo

I'd trade my accord for a beemer haha. I'd say no, my friend sold his gsl-se for $3300 and now he wishes he had never sold it and he couldnt find another rx-7 for a long time except like 86 se's.
but like evryone said, if you want a car for comfort, the bmw is the way to go.

mor epeople will respect the BMW but more people will be suprised 5 car lengths behind a TII.

catch my drift?

if you didn't th eRx-7 is so unique and rare and few really know about the 2nd gens and they see it as any other car from the 80s but it is fast

BMW is just a name and some cow hide with fake wood (were'nt the 92s the ugly style ones?)

If you want reliability go BMW, only thing is when something DOES brake, the parts are hella expensive.

i've got nothing against BMW's. I like them way more than say a Benz. I just think a 318 is such a downgrade... if you want a 4 banger just get a Corolla. An E30 M3 would be a good trade.

Hell no, Not worth it in anyway. 1st of all Almost no S4 turbo is worth $5500. Thats about the price of most S5 turbo models. I dont car if its aniversary or not. Its not worth that much. & Just lke everyone said BMW probably charges like $120-$130 an hr for labor and expect to take it there for almost anything besides maintenance. But if ur not into the FC or rotarys then do what you want. The 318 is SOOOOOO SLOW! its a weak *** 4cyl. a 2000 civic ex (SINGLE CAM) is faster than that stock to stock.

If it was stock, I'd say it was worth it on a strictly monitary basis, but theres no way its worth it if you have mods on the 7. I don't have anything against BMW either. They are good cars, although I would never own a recent one becuase I view them as yuppie cars. That said, a mid-late 80's m3 and an mr2 are the only other cars I really want as a sports car, that I can afford at least.
