Should i rip carpet out??

I am sick and tired of seeing my old gray hard to clean piece of **** carpet.

I would like to rip it out... along with all the tar and sound padding. What do you guys think?

I'm sure it's clean and shiny metal under the carpet right?

Think it would look allright on the street? Or too, Holy crap, that's a race car...

I really dont mind the whole race car look... i just dont want to get the "that's a piece of **** with no carpet look"

Opinions would be great... Markus

P.S... All the carpet.. from front fire wall, to rear hatch area... All day project?

After pulling the carpet up to install my seats, which required a little body modification, I wouldn't do it.

It's not all that pretty under the carpet and sound deadening material.

Why don't you just pull up one side and have a look, you might have a different opinion.

If you take it out, I would suggest painting it, cuz the paint is crappy under all that stuff.

It's much hotter too, at least in my bro's S3. If I'm in the passenger seat, I keep my left arm away from the tunnel.

I have to aggree with EL PALLO on that, but my car has 2 empty bolt holes above the tunnel that leak hot air into the car anyway.

Do a search on e-bay. You can get brand new carpet molded to your car for about $160. I'm thinking of going with that.

Here, I did the search for you. The complete set is $176 on his website: <http://www.carpet4cars.com/Merchant2...y_Code=RX7+GXL>
Or, you can get this front set on e-bay for slightly cheaper: <http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=42612>.
I say spend a little money and make your car a little better.

Hard to clean? There are plenty of good carpet cleaning products out there. Why does it get dirty? Is it just the footwells? Floor mats will fix this.

The carpet and sound padding aren't too hard, but the tar is a major exercise.

Hell no...

Is it a street car or is it a race car? Personally I can't think of anything worse than a street car with no carpet. It just makes the car look like a worn-out beater. Maybe it's just me...
Another thing to consider is that carpet absorbs a lot of noise, from the engine, tyres and exhaust. If you like listening to your stereo in the car, you'll find all the extra noise intrusive.
A street car doesn't need to be luxurious, be it should at least be comfortable.

Amen Brother! After looking up that carpet, I want it! Does anyone have $180 they can lend me? Get the black carpet. It looks cool and stays clean.

And would also be hotter than the nine hells if you leave it parked in the sun on a hot day

Yeah, I have a black on black car, no AC, and I live in New Mexico. I never said I was sane. Once I got rid of my black leather seats and installed my 14 lbs MOMO ones, things have been much cooler as air can flow though the thin backs. All for the love of the ride!
