Should I paint the parts in the Engine bay? What parts?

Well I am doing the TII conversion very soon and expect to get my long block core next week.

I have to strip it down to short block so I can send it off to get rebuilt.

In the mean time I am porting the wastegate and possibly painting parts.

What shoud I paint?and what shoudl I leave?

I have a Black 88 GTU and have already bought blue silicon hose to redo the lines.

I was figuring Blue paint on some things like maybe AFM and maybe other things like UM or maybe even Alt.

Here are some pics of my Cold air box and the color to reference off of.
The paint I have is the Spray can Metallic blue Metal cast series so it will look kinda anodized on metal parts.

Yeah that's completed. It seals all around the fender well and that box thing on the right is the air snorkel outlet.

It doesn't prevent all heat from coming but if you stick your hand on one side and then the interior you can feel a heat difference.

The flames are all silver backing then I stencilled blue over it.

Back to topic.
The housings on the engine is another part I am thinking about. I would really like them painted red but Red and blue in a black car is kinda ugly. I want to try and stay with one other color and I've already gotten the blue silicone hoses.Maybe I'll do a blue housing.

Any thoughts on spraying the UIM with the Metallic Anodized look blue paint? The color will probably be lighter than the above blue because I will lightly go over it to try and preserve the metal finish.

Ok I'll just say the stuff that I did, and I think it looks clean. My car is yellow, used to be a darker red, so my engine bay was dark red for awhile. I used rattle can black while the motor was out. It looks pretty damn mean. The rotor housings and intake manifold have been wire wheeled to make them all nice and shiny( Bling Bling) High grit sandpaper can also work wonders on cleaning up parts.

If I were going to paint anything, Id paint them gun-metal black. If you want some ideas of what Im talking about, check out Rxmfn7's car. Black or maybe even white would look cool, but white would probably hard to keep clean.

yeah white would look awsome...or blue for that matter, as long as everything matches i'll look killer. I've got a powdercoat setup on the way (thank you santa) so hopefully i'll have some colour under the hood soon as well

I am in the process of powercoating everything under the hood on my vert. I am going with blue (car is black). Red seemed to bright and other colors seemed gaudy.

Don't forget the often overlooked things such as metal Brake Booster Line, metal Heater Hose line, Coil Packs, brackets, nuts/Bolts etc. I took a wire brush wheel hooked up to a drill and polished them off. Save the big Items for sandblasting. I went as far as sandblasting my entire Powertrain and It turned out fantastic.

If you follow this outline, besure to give It a hit of clear coat so It doesn't turn grey on you next season.

I think blue would look good on a black car.

Here are what colors I have under my hood: Car is an AE (white), all silicon hoses are red (I only have ~6 of them due to Haltech), and intake manifolds are black. Before upgrading to my present turbo and FMIC, I had more black and red under the hood - and it looked good.

Back to the subject, paint it all blue!

I painted the intake manifold, among other engine parts. The black contrasts nicely with the rest of the car. Since your car is black, my color preference would be a medium shade of blue, so it wouldn't be too bright but different from the engine bay.

88IntegraLS, did you paint the flanges of the manifolds? I spent lots of time making sure I masked off the flanges (and the vacuum ports), so that I would not have a vacuum leak from a bad seal.

Some overspray got on the flanges but I wiped it off with a paper towel soaked in lacquer thinner. That is also how I got the top of the dynamic chamber to look bare on the raised surfaces.
