i'm sure a gsx could be a lot of fun, but i'd prefer an rx7. only time i'd want awd is on an impreza so i could go off-roading. rx7s are fun, though. they get my seal of approval.
just saw your second post...
reasons to get it - big port = big power. great handling. looks sweet. overall fun to drive.
reasons not to get one. sucks there aren't many qualified rotary techs. to port, ya gotta tear the engine apart.
those are my few reasons.

well if u want big power get a turbo, if u want a great handler get a n/a, if u want all the girls get a vert.
so simply put :
turbo = Power
n/a = Handling
Vert = getting Girls

i would recomend an s5 (89-91) cause of the better interior and exterior. s4 (86-88) r lighter but a have a little less power than the s5. and there interiors suck *** (radio suround always breaks)

also always do a compression test before u buy one it cost a pretty penny to rebuild these motors

If you got the determination for religious upkeep and the occasional 3-400 dollar repair and actually care about the car and you don't just try to ghetto mod it or put stickers on (which in my oppinion just make any car look cheap) the cars are wonderful I have never driven a TII but I hear they are great but more troublesome about repairs and such I have two N/a's and they are great I just beat an eclipse and all I have done to the car is a cone filter and lightening it a bit(A/c and stereo are off and used to have no spare but got one now) Fast stock faster moded but be careful and you absoutely must learn to work on the rotary your self or get your car fu$@ed up by dumbass mechanic.

CASH, DETERMINATION &LOVE FOR THE SEVEN= good times 4 U

I know. Thats why I said to get a 6bolt...

Anyways, keep the GSX man.

If it was a plain old GST, Id say get the RX.

I love the RX and all, but if I had to choose between a 2g GSX or a 1988-89 Turbo RX, Id take the GSX.

Now, if it was a GSX or a 93-95 RX, Id take the RX all the way

Hah! S5 (89-91) NA owners wish their cars were that much faster than S4s (86-88). Depending on the model, some S4s are actually faster than S5s. Why you ask? Probably the extra 100lbs or so that was added to the second gens starting in '89. More sound deadening and the like.

Isaac

P.S. Where did you get those figures anyway?

I cant remember the site but I have raced an S5 in my sport and he beat me after a block or so I doubt the s5 extra weight out weighs the hp increase it should even out IMO

Yes there is. In '92, the '91s were sold as '92s while Mazda was preparing to debut the FD...

To the original poster: If you have to ask, then don't buy the RX-7. Trust me on this.

Glad to here that you have a Sport (arguably one of the fastest NA FCs).

From what I have heard, the weight difference between the S4s and S5s cancels out the hp gain, even more so with the heavier S5 models. In my experience this has proven to be true as well.

Isaac

P.S. Don't believe everything you read on the internet, consult many different sources to determine accurate 0-60 and quarter mile times.
