I want a pure performance vehicle I want an engine for around 500-600 bucks and max on turbo kit is $2500....

P.S I see a lot of Turbo Kit's like Greddy for 87-89 Rx-7s does this mean they won't work on 86? It's called the "GReddy TD06SH-20G Turbo Kit"

Just curious, how the **** do you have an RX-8?

If the car is rusted out or is just in terrible condition, I advise not taking it as it could become too much of a hassle if you don't have a lot of money. On the other hand, if it seems mechanically sound, I say take it, because hey, it's a free car.

Even if it is rusted out, you could still part it out and make some money to put towards a good one. Or if nothing else tow it down to the local wreckers and get a few dolars for scrap metal.

These aren't Hondas, if you want a turbo you buy the turbo engine. A turbo engine plus a rebuild is within your budget.

My dad saved up $40,000 for my college tuition since I was born, but when i got a full scholarship he gets to keep that money so I just told him to buy me an 8 and I'll be happy.

well, i read in your profile you have the four speed automatic, right? THATS why its slow. you really really really really REALLY need to learn how to drive stick if you cant before you consider building anything fun to drive.

i agree, stick is more fun. but not only that, the auto rx8 is the 210hp 4-port and the stick is the 240ish hp 6-port. hence the auto is slow.

i say you take it buy a cheap n/a engine pull it apart learn to rebuild it yourself and port the crap out of it. set up a direct port nitrous setup and youve got yourself a fast car for cheap. just my 2 cents though

wow, since you can get the FC for free, it has NO motor and you only want to spend $3000 to make it haul ***, you should drop in a chevy V8. the LT1 V8 can be had with a 6 speed manual tranny and there are mount kits to make this a drop in affair, easy enough for a 17 year old to do, no joke. the LT1 has a forward facing throttlebody so you wont need to cut the hood like on an oldschool carb'd v8 swap setup. you could buy a wrecked '93-97 impala or camaro/firebird and sell off the junk you dont need then you'll end up getting the LT1/T56 swap for dirt cheap, like $1000 total, seriously. mount equipment and a driveshaft plus some cooling/fuel system stuff will be another $1000.

checkout the "other engines" section of the forum, there is a good bit of into in there on this type of swap. its tough to beat this approach to get over 300 whp and 300tq without risking reliability.
