I wanted an FC for quite a while. I just got a deal from a private seller.

White 89 FC GLX
clean inside and out
bone stock
everything is in perfect condition (or so he claims)
171,000 miles on it...
engine was never rebuilt
owner never drove the car hard
for $3,400

...am i getting ripped off?...the mileage on the car is extremely high. The owner said i didn't need to rebuild the engine but, according to most of the posts here, it said that the engine lasts up to 200,000 miles.

I don't know how to rebuild a rotary engine. If i do get the car, and i do decide to rebuild, can anybody in the LA/ San Fernando Valley area help? I'll post of the car soon.

 

yes.... way to much... i paid 3200 for mine with 98k miles a VERY VERY VERY VERY nice body fresh paint and a full t2 drivetrain exhaust intake act 4 puck clutch flywheel and pressure plate..... other **** but thats how it was lol

 

rotaries are easier than pistons to rebuild supposedly.



id give him 3000 max personally.

 

That milage is kinda iffy... if at all possible try to get a compression check. I'd still try to heavily talk him down, if it still looks good. Also kbb.com for the value of the vehicle. I paid around 3200 for my 90 gxl with tii swap and new motor (7k), full exhaust, light flywheel, etc, etc... so if ya keep looking you can find a nice deal.

 

This may become a problem when you start driving it...carbon buildup is a bitch.

Check KBB on the car and it depends on how much you want it.

 

$2.5k at MOST, hell you'd have to twist my arm just to get that much.

 

maybe $3000 if the motor was just rebuilt....but with that much mileage ill have to go with sonicrat

 

2K, not a penny above, why would you want to spend so much on a fixer upper?

 

hell i paid 2.5k for a bone stock 87 with 64kmiles on it. and it was garage kept for its life. so to answer question no way to much. you could find a running turbo 2 for that price.

 

im at 254,00 w/o a rebuild-evr and running strong, as long as you keep 'er in good order it should be fine

 

DREYKO, you must have an n/a because it takes a lot for a turbo to last that long w/o a rebuild

 

I paid $1K for an '89 TII with a blown motor and 90K, all else mint OEM... even $2K is a lot to me for an NA only with that high of miles on it

 

seeing that you're from LA (unless that's louisiana) i believe that is only a tad bit over-priced. around the so cal area, fc's as well as 240's are worth a shiny penny.

with that said... i believe that you should wait until you can find another one. i paid 1100 for my 89 GTU with 125k.
