my buddy has a 87-92 rx7 turboII it is a fairly clean car. but it has red interior. no biggie. but it is overheating bad when riding around the neiborhood. it is pusshing all the coolent out of the overflow line. it doesnt have a fan shroud and i didnt see a fan but i can hear one. isnt there supposed to be one like on the front of the motor. if soo could this be why it is over heating.

Read the FAQ -- It will answer 9/10ths of your questions.
You're in for quite the restore. At the least, you need to confirm and fix the cooling system. At the worst, like Aaron said, you'll need a new engine. If the cooling system's gone to crap like this, you probably need to replace every piece of rubber in the car. Also, the fuel pump switch is a ghetto-rig fix for having leaky injectors or some other fuel delivery fault.
Have fun and good luck.

thanks. i still feel i got a good deal i will try to get pics today. i only gave 450 for it including towing, and the body is perfect. but i will let everyone know how it goes. and does anyone know what it will cost for a rebuild. thanks
get the thermostat from the dealer. You said it has an electric fan? If it does and comes on, then that means its working and should cool down your engine. I really think that your coolant seals are blown. You said it blew white smoke. And the switch is definitely for fuel cut off, because it is flooding. I say compression test the engine is the only way to know. Go get a compression tester for about $40 and see what condition your engine is in. thats the way to know. If the engine has low compression, $500 is still worth a TII, and just get a jdm engine for $800-1000 or rebuild it for 1500-2500 depending on who you take it too.
ok i have emailed a few companys about an jdm engine. but i started my car a few minutes ago(after installing my new thermostat) and it smokes blue when i first start it. and it still got hot so i cut it off and it wont start till it cools way down. and it is still pushing the water out of the overflow line. i got a few more ?s but i will wait till i get pics to ask yall so that u will know what im talkin about. thanks ppl

There is no "best" ECU. If you search this forum for "haltech microtech" you should find several long discussions which cover the differences between the popular ECUs.
You don't want a "Honda" tuner touching your RX-7 anyway. Tuning a rotary is far different then tuning a piston engine in that you cannot make mistakes and get away with them.
