Should I be expecting more from a midpipe?

Just wondered as I just installed the mp at a friend's and on the way back to my house to get my FCD I jumped into 3rd and floored it to 4th and did not hit fuel cut. Got to the house, plugged in the FCD and off we went for a few runs. My friend has a 10th AE and we are dead even - doesn't matter if it's 4th and 5th or 0-60. We're that close. He's got I/hi-flo or punched out cat/catback

I was running hi-flo cat and I'll bet I didn't add more than 10hp switching to mp.

I did this 2 years ago and was creeping to 13 psi in 3rd - the car was definetely faster when I first tried this and I guess I'm wondering why this is. I'll be installing boost and a/f ratio gauges this week but I'll bet I'm not even hitting 10psi by the ***-o-meter.

Just for perspective, tonite we followed a couple of the Mustang boys out for a drag and my friend lined up with a 95ish GT spraying a 100 shot and the 10th AE lost by about a car or so and I've been running even with my friend all nite.

Is there something I'm overlooking or might troubleshoot for?

so when you say that you were creeping to 13 a few years ago did you have a boost gauge at that point? but now you don't? just curious...

i really gotta get my *** together and put in a guage as well...i wanna throw on my N1 onto the T2...but wanna know what i'm running first

When I tried the mp 2 years ago I had one of the techs at a shop I trusted take the car out for a test - he had a boost gauge set up with the hose just coming thru the driver's window. He told me 13psi in 3rd and I believe him because the car was noticeably faster at that time.

a MP won't give you much more power over a high flow cat. as the high flow is already a good amount better then stock.

do you still have the pre cat and stock catbacK?
