Should I buy a used Turbo?
Should I buy a used Turbo?
My n/a engine died this weekend at summit point (lost coolant and oil-fogging like crazy). As I was researching new and rebuild engines, a couple of turbo engines on ebay caught my eye. We have done numerous upgrades to my car and it is actually a turbo set up from the flywheel back. These turbos look like a cheap way to get a great increase in power, but is it worth it? Are they really plug and play? If they say they have been compression tested, does this mean they will be reliable? Any referals to bonafide providers that i should check out?

The FAQ covers what you need to convert to turbo. Since you have the turbo drivetrain, all you'll need is to bolt in the engine, swap in the turbo ECU and harness, and install the accessories (fuel pump, AFM, pressure sensor, etc.).
Even a stock turbo engine is a MASSIVE improvement over the NA regarding torque curve, and if you want to mod it then there is no comparison in horsepower.
