Should i buy this rx-7??

It is 1986, gold, manual, i dont know whether if it is GX or GXL or anything yet

it has 360,000 km, the owner says its gone through 3 engines and the one it currently has is about 175,000km

the price: $900.00CAN OBO

i havnt looked at it in person yet. but might bargain down to 700 or something.

it sounds like a real piece of ****. the question remains, should i put money into it?

btw, i live in Canada, so s/h engine stuff might come costly....

well you get what you pay for, i payed 500(american bucks) for my fc and ive already put another 500 in it and it still doesnt run! so the more you pay up front on a car really reflects how much your going to put in it later on.

but if you want a project go for it, or look for a slightly newer one with less miles A LOT less miles maybe sub 250,oookm for a better deal

...well, ive been looking around for one and the prices down here are like raping me up the goat ***, some lady had hers in autotrader, all rusted up n what not, stains in the paint from berry juice from the trees or bush it was next to, n she didnt even know if the engine would run, you know what she wanted for it??? 1500, thats in US, n she wouldnt even go down to 1000, i told her id give her 500 cuz the engine might not even start up....ergh, dont know much about canadian money, but if its worth less than us dollars go fo rthe 700 if its in ok condition, make sure u do the usual checks...electrical....watch for unusual colored smoke from exhaust, how much compression rotors have.....things like that, ask how many times oil was changed...if its in ok condiiton go for it!!!, now if CAN is more than US dollars, id make sure its in good condition if u want to put money into it..

milage mainly bothers the engine and tranny right? 360,000km shouoldn't hurt anything else?

any shafts or axles or brakes?

700 for the car.... 2000 for the engine..... 1000 for the tranny?

it should be running then right? obiovusly easier said than done....

omgosh. guys.

i found another rx-7 which is totally different.... but buyable

1987 RX-7 silver ext 179,000km, has rebuilt engine with less than 5,000km, new clutch, new fuel pump, no dents, no accidents.

The Price: $2700.00CAN OBO

however, it feels like the owner is just trying to get back the money he put in for the engine.

which is better? this one or the first rx7 i advertised?

If the body is good on the first one, I would suggest taking it. I paid $900 US for the one I wanted with ~125k miles on it... however it was all original, aside from brake pads and engine oil.

agreed. if i were to buy another seven, that feature and interrior would be my deciding factors for the 900can price range! For 900$ canadian, I'd rather get a shitty engine wich can be replaced, than a rusted out body that cannot be replaced.

If your paying like 3k canadian or higher, i would expect NO body damage, and NO engine issues at all.. but then again cars are more expensiver up here in igloo land than in the states... pisses me off. In the autotrader right now its about 7k+ for a good condition seven at the moment... wheras in the states its like 2kus for a TII in good condition!

at least thats what I've been seeing in this forum

I dissagree... Start off with a GOOD car.. or you will end up with a car you have WAY too much money in...PERIOD! You cant rebuild a rotary for under $1000 and the little bits and peices really add up.

you can't get a good rotary for 900$canadian either.. if you want a good car, spend more money, period. if I was looking for a 900$ seven, it would be a project car, i mean ****, 900$ is a project car for canada!

Sorry, that's bullshit for most of the US. You are hearing of too many great deals.

Here in the DC metro area, the only TII I've heard of for that cheap had a bad engine and body damage. Decent condition TII's go for $3k-4k US, great ones for $4k-5k.

I was lucky with my past '88 GXL, it was mint with 106k miles, leather and all... I got it for $2k US from a neighbor who didn't advertise it. I sold it over a year later, with 146k miles, after both mufflers rusted and fell off and the seats completely wore out and tore... for $1900.

I bought my current '86 Sport from a relative for $900, a great deal considering that's the exact year and trim I wanted. It needed over $200 US of junk (belts, hoses, thermostat, oil, filters, etc) before I could even drive it home.

if you want a project car, i have a 87 RX7 for sale, the motor is bad in. The car is Beautifull. I don't want to get rid of it honostly, but i cant afford to buy another engine(a good one). I can't bear to see this great of a car get parted out, but if I must, I must.

I just sold the best 88 t2 I have ever seen for $3450. If you guys are spending 2-3k on a NA on its 3rd engine you are getting screwed. Their isn't a 86-88 NA besides the vert I would pay over 2k for that I have seen yet. Even modded out ones.

I bought my SE in near mint condition (everything works but a light on the logicon unit), for 1700 with a 450 dollar CD deck.

So far in it I've done a few simple mods and had to replace a rim and driveshaft.

It has 127,000 on the body with 90 grand on the engine.

So check out FC's. And listen to Bukwild.

Btw, got my TII for $700 and about 250 bucks to tow it home and gas for the trip (bought my uncle lunch for riding with).

Food for thought.
