Should I buy this car?

Hey, this is my 1st post. I am trying to figure out whether to buy an 86 GXL. I need help. I live at the top of a very steep hill, with switchbacks all the way up. It's the state's most popular streetracing area, which I drive up every day. I want something that will be fun, and will make it up the hill everyday. I need somethign reliable, but fun. The rx7 caught my attention, but I've been hearing mixed reports about its reliability. The one I have in mind is as follows.

86 GXL
Everything works except the back winshield wiper.
Interior spotless.
All maintence records, this is the origional owner. Seller is a grandma, bought the car new off the lot, changed oil regularly, as well as other minor maintence.
37,000 miles.
I test drove it, was wonderful. One rust spot on roof.
Engine super-clean, oil clean, runs (im not an expert) seemingly beautiully.
New tires, brakes.
Driven regularly, but not long distances.
Will sell for $2300

Several things are hanging me up 1) old cars with low miles tend to have cracked and used up rubber and plastic. Will every plastic or rubber thing in the engine need to be replaced soon? and 2) I live in Hawai'i, I'm not a mechanic. Some of the people around here ive talked to say parts will be worth their weight in gold, and no one will be able to install them for me. I have found several people who say they can work on them, but im still scared. 3) Im a college student and have a very limited budget.

Please help!
Thanks

an 86 GXL for $2300? I rather get me an S5? But thats only my 2 cents. Right now I am going Jspec 13BT on my 91 NA Coupe. So choose wisely if you'll be satisfied.

yes i would take a s4 any day... lighter frame and best of all a mechanical OMP... i just dont trust the electronic ones in the s5's but im paranoid and bad luck always happens to me so i got a s4, but if the car runs good and doesnt smoke any after warm up then sounds like a decent deal to me... hell i paid 4k for my vert and it had 107k miles on it... however it was in mint shape minus a small leak in the top wich im one day gonna fix when i get off of my *** or im not working

Lets see, a 1986 GXL with 37,000 original miles for $2300 in paradise from a little old Grandmother? Do it, you may need to sort a couple things out, but it sounds like a good buy car...

It's sounds like a great deal. Check over the basic things before purchase of course.

Feel free to use the FAQ and other technical sections for information on what to look for when buying a sports car like the Rx-7.

Good luck,
