Should I buy it?

I've got my eye on an RX-7. It's a 5 speed, 1988 and there's no major body damage, just one small dent. Everything with the car is fine, but the only thing is that the car has 188,000 miles on it. No rebuild, should I take it?

Oh and it's 2 Grand, but he's willing to take it a little lower.

Thumbs down No thanks

You'll have to be a little more detailed about the car but, assuming it's all stock, with or without turbo I'd turn it down. Too many miles on it for that price. I got my '88 GXL with 195,000 miles on it for $900.00 (after seeing what some of these guys pay...that may have even been too much lol). Just wait it out for a good deal. You could probably score a halfway decent turbo for 2k.

Try 1200 . At most.

Rotary engine can last a long time. But **** on the body doesn't, bushings, clutch, vaccum lines, radiator, alot of little things will pile up on a chassis with that many miles. Just to keep in mind.

Just because it has mods doesn't mean its worth more. 2G is alot to ask for with an engine and body of that many miles .

Yeah, and mods actually are supposed to depreciate the value of the car. I think 1200-1400 would be a good deal. The parts like the S5 Tail Lights, Wheels+Tires, Apexi Exhaust, TII Hood, TII mirrors, KYB Shocks easily add up to $800 and that's being generous. So if he lets it go for $1200-1400 ****** it up quick! And make sure that RedSuns sticker comes off!

Keyser, that's a goofy price for a car with that many miles, as stated.

I sent you a link to a sexy RX-7, why didn't you catch it up? :P Granted, it's in some off state, but hey, it's a 7..you should do anything for them!

I say 1400 is a good price for that one though.

If you DO buy it, check on the fuel PD. I would only buy it if it were a TurboII.

*Edit* I just realized it was a 4 lug. WTF?

Thanks for the tips, deffinately not getting that for more than 1000. Although I'm most probably not going to buy it anyway.

Cyber, I checked your link, but I can't get there (forgot what state it was), because I need a car! :P I don't have a car of my own. I use my room mate's.

Ahh, that explains it. Find a friend that has a day off, and go road tripping!

I don't think 1000+ miles can be covered in one day. :P

Agree, I got my 87 mint condition 7 for 1700 with 101K miles on it. I have never seen another seven with better leather than mine and get compliments about it all the time. Plus it's a 4 seater!
But yeah, his price is too high for the miles on the car. A family friend is selling an 88 GTU for 500... but it probably needs a new tranny.
