Alright.. im a 17 year old guy from tx and im trying to find a decent car. there is a guy down the street from me selling a 91 RX-7 non-turbo. i need a nice car for college...if you know where im getting at.?
the car has no AC(i think it needs to be charged), 93k miles, manuel, no speakers, power everything, allow rims, needs a paint job, and has "decent" interiour. im talking to the guy tommorow about it so if some one will please help me out and tell me how much i should offer.

he first told me 6 grand and i thought he was out of his mind.... but please help

doesn't sound like a bad car, sorta a fixer uper. non turbo's are fairly reliable you should be able to get at least another 100k miles outa it as long as you keep up with regular maintinece and stuff. plus with no audio in the car saves you the taking the crappy spekers out

Without seeing any pics of the car, just going my your description, Id say $2500 TOPS! A non-turbo Rx-7 can be pretty reliable, but as far as hauling capacity and gas milage (things that may be important to a college student..) it is kind of lacking..

Expect an average of ~23 MPG, if the car is running properly and you can keep your foot off the gas.. As far as maintenance goes, you had better be handy because 99% of all shops and garages (including mazda dealers) dont know squat about these cars.. Beside the alternator crapping out , I have had no problems with my non-turbo Rx-7 in the 4 years that Ive owned it.

Do a search on here, and read the stickys at the top of this forum, and especially "what to look for when buying an FC" Youll want to get a compression check done.

What should I look for when buying a FC?

no way should you pay out 6k, I just bought my 87 NA last fall for $1200, and have spent 1k fixing it up. Only has 103k miles on it too, so it's not that much more used than the one you're looking at, and sounds like its in about the same condition otherwise. so like rxmfn7 said, $2500 tops, if theres no major repairs to be done.

$6K is WAY too much unless it is showroom perfect with <1000 miles.

If the A/C needs to be "charged", then it means there is a leak. The A/C system is sealed, so it should never need to be refilled unless something is wrong.

yeah. 6k is way too much. i bought my car for $3,800 and it was in perfect condition. i would not pay more than 4k for any FC thats completely stock.

ckyguy and superstock2 are talking about the 86-88 n/a's whereas you're looking at an 89-91 n/a, so it is a little different... 86-88's are series4's, the 89-91's are series 5's with the most notable differences being the s5's have the round taillights and the moulding will be the same color as the body (s4's side mouldings are black, as seen in aaroncake's car in his sig) yours will also have a better electrical system (ur clock will work), you are less likely to have flooding startup problems, etc, etc so it is generally more expensive than the s4.
