Should fast/hard shifting be GOOD for the clutch??? <confused>
These past 2 days I decided to work on my shifting. You know, trying to shift faster and more precise. Upon doing this I noticed something I wasn't expecting. After 2 days of constant hard/fast shifts, the clutch seems to grab better than it used to even during normal shifting. Driving home earlier I really noticed that when shifting easily into 2nd and 3rd even when giving some slippage it grabs harder and feels much firmer. And even just driving after the clutch is engaged there seems to be less powerloss. The car seems to have a wee bit more get up in the lower RPM's. It's not a very dramatic difference, but it is noticable.
The previous owner of the car babied it and never really drove it hard at all, and I have't driven it TOO hard like this before either. Well not 2 days of constant fast/hard shifting anyway. Would that play a role? I know I'm not imagining it becuase it I figured if anything it would be bad on the clutch, so this caught me by total surprise. I was going to order a new clutch soon, but I'm not so sure now. My clutch feels great.
Any thoughts???

only thing i can think of is that there was a some sorta buildup on the clutch and giving it a railing cleaned the face and now you get more positive engagement??? perhaps it was never broken in properly?
these cars are funny seems the pupular consensus is to beat on em often to keep em healthy..lol thats the theory i use when driving my car all the time!

I usually push mine to 6500 rpms once a drive and slip the clutch at 4500 rpms (max acceleration) once a week. That includes popping the clutch between gears for max 1/4 mile as well.

Don't stress man! You're just cleanin' the cobwebs off your flywheel and pressure plate. *grin* Given all the use you're putting the clutch through, it actually might be getting better since you burning through/sloughing off "old" friction material and getting down to the "fresh" stuff. That's why it would grab better. It makes sense to me, and that's probably what's happening.

Also, it sounds like this is the first time the car has been driven hard in quite awhile so you may also be blowing away carbon deposits and getting better compression, resulting in more power. If it's not been driven hard before you may want to give it an ATF treatment then continue driving it hard.
