Exclamation shorter gears

ya i searched a few months ago,and somehow i cant find it again

who makes shorter gears(shorter than 4.33) i recall someone making 4.80 s and 5.16's (boths using random 1st gen parts)


anyone?

4.30 is the normal limit but i'm sure you can go higher for the $$$. and as for mismatching i don't see how that is possible because the ring and pinion have to be a matched set or you'll get some nasty howl. if you N/A you could do a close ratio miata trans box with a 4.30 rear end and see how that works.

You can get 4.44, 4.88 and 5.12 gears, but they're all for short pinion diffs (1st gens and 1.8 Miatas). You have a choice of either using a short pinion housing and making a custom front mount and longer driveshaft, or grafting a short and a long pinion together to form a long pinion shorter ratio rear end. Neither is cheap or easy.
