I have a miata short shifter from ebay. There is a how to thread in the 2nd gen archives. I am very happy with the improvement of changing out the stock shifter for my $45 ebay shifter.

Mazdatrix has one too, I think. I really want to see Aaron's short shifter, too.

C's, Miata, Mazdatrix, Mazdaspeed

I've used C's and Mazdatrix. I'd like to give the Mazdaspeed a shot. C's is on the top of my list so far.

lopped an inch off my S5 shift lever, feels better than any short shifter kit i've ever tried, those damn things make impossible to shift into 5th/reverse.

Well that is a shorter shifter and that is different than a short shifter.
I personally like the stock height with the shorter shift. Plus it makes a really loud noise when I shift with the mazdatrix shifter. I like it.

Uh? You might want to investigate that "loud noise." That shouldn't happen.

I use the Mazdatrix short shifter and am pleased with it. Shortens the throw significantly. And yes, shifting into 5th and reverse can sometimes be an adventure. Short throw shifters take some getting used to but once you do, you'll never go back to the stock shifter.

When I installed it in my '87 N/A it rattled severely and I had to get creative to shut that up, but now it's fine.

I have a mazdatrix one and it works fine. I cant get a shifter **** to go on the bastard and stay but other then that it works fine. It gets stuck in reverse but you just pop it out, no problems in 5th. I love the short throw on it, feels 'cool'.
