what if my compression is a bit low? will that affect it in anyway? were not talking super low but mildly ( i know its mild only because i still have the same power output but occasionally i have crappy starts, although that may be because my vaccum hoses are shot)

but other than that, your saying just remove the cats and put a straight pipe, with no other tampering, and it can be done? what if i put a silencer or holow out a cat that way i can atleast pass a visual test? will that affect it?

Thank god for Alabama. We have laws for emissions but no way to enforce it. No yearly checks or anything, and Ive never heard of anyone being ticketed for no cats around here. Hell I ran my freinds T2 around here for a few days with no exhaust at all on it, just dp, and no cops ever turned to look.

I got a ticket once and the cop noticed and looked under the car and seen no cat so he wrote me a ticket and said get your exhaust replaced and bring it when you pay off your ticket. So i just put the stock exhaust back on luckly I still had it. I then took it off and put back on the 3" turboback as soon as I got home lol.

So it doesn't hurt it or it does? At first you make it sound like it doesn't then you said it costs alot of money.

Let me simplify things for you. If you get rid of your cats and run a straight pipe, you will shoot flames. A resonator will only deepen or change the exhaust note. If there is nothing hindering the flow of the exhaust, you will shoot flames.

When I was shooting flames, I had the stock header, a bonez straight pipte, and Apex GT spec exhaust. Popped flames all the time. Then I switched to Racing Beat header, but I put in a cat (for the aux port activation) and kept the same exhaust. No pops, no flames. I know if I punch out the cats, I'll be shooting flames again, but I'm over it.

Now as far as the police are concerned. CA officers are harsh on any kind of modified import vehicle, because the import scene is really big out here and there are a lot of youngins running around. Not to mention the smog. That's why emissions is a big deal out here. I've even heard that officers are setting up check points at freeway entrances with mobile smog check units down in San Diego.

popping at idle only serves a couple purposes.. it looks cool, its a conversation starter, and it scares people.

I didnt do anything special to make my car do this... just RB downpipe presilencer, and no mufflers. It runs rich, very rich, i get like 12mpg... my engine is on its last leg... 215k miles on stock build.

its not BAD for the car... its just bad when you only get 190 miles to a tank.

I was at a cruise night here last summer and the traffic doesnt move hardly at all. There was this one ******* that thought riding my *** would get it to move faster though. I freereved it like 5 times to 8 grand shooting a flame evertime and he was only about half a foot away . I think it charred his bumper but couldnt tell. He was pissed. That was when it was n/a still though.

Why would taking the cats out make your motor blow??? From what I know the less backpressure on a turbo car the faster it spools. You dont need any for a turbo car.

You don't need any backpressure. Backpressure is bad. Period.

Except...the turbo will boost creep with too much exhaust flow, and if you don't port the wastegate and let the boost get too high, you can blow the engine.

Turbo's don't have port actuators...
Flames are cool at night... I think you'd look pretty stupid if your car was slow and shot flames..
